Follow these steps to securing federal benefits:

1. Apply for benefits
2. Apply to a Madison College program
3. Submit your VA Enrollment Form (PDF)
4. Register for classes. You may request Priority Registration (PDF)
5. Submit your documents in person to Veteran Services in Room D1677 or email them to veteranservices@madisoncollege.edu
   • Certification of Eligibility
     • You will be sent a Certificate of Eligibility indicating your eligibility and entitlement. Submit a copy of this COE. You may also turn in a screenshot of your eBenefits if you’ve already established your eligibility and cannot find your COE.
   • Transcripts
     • If you’re receiving Federal GI Bill benefits, you are required by the VA to submit both military and prior official college transcripts. 
   • DD214
     • If you’re receiving Federal VA Education benefits for your military service, you must submit a copy of Member Copy 4 of your DD214.
6. Verify your enrollment by going online to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs 
7. Receive your payment
   • If this is the first time you’re going to use Federal Education benefits, expect payment about 4 weeks after classes start.

The WI GI Bill® provides program and material fee remission (forgiveness) for eligible veterans and eligible dependents of veterans who were killed or became disabled in the line of duty.

The WI GI Bill does not waive 100% of tuition and fees. It only waives State-set program, material and online fees. You are responsible for paying the uncovered portions, including various fees and materials costs.

Funding is limited to 8 full-time semesters (about 128 credits).

Application Process

See if you’re eligible for WI GI Bill remission on the Wisconsin GI Bill website. You can also obtain information in the Veteran Services Office, room D1677.

To establish WI GI Bill remission at Madison College, you must complete the following steps:

1. Apply for benefits with WDVA
2. Submit WDVA 2029 to Veteran Services room D1677 (Dependents and spouses need to submit additional documentation and proof of WI residency.)
3. Register for classes
4. Maintain your eligibility (minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0)
